Minneapolis Public Schools Seeks Local Community Partners to Provide Summer Programming for Students
Selected community partners will receive funding through federal ESSER dollars.
MINNEAPOLIS – Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) is seeking Twin Cities-based community organizations interested in providing “summer bridge” programming focused on student wellbeing, academic enrichment and/or school readiness during August 2022 for MPS students.
For Phase 1 funding, contract amounts will range from $10,000 to $49,000, for contracts totaling $200,000, made possible through federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Act (ESSER) funding.
This opportunity is designed to target and support students most impacted educationally and emotionally by the COVID-19 pandemic: low-income students, students of color, American Indian students, English language learners, students with disabilities and students experiencing homelessness.
Examples of programs include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Cultural identity-building
- Athletics, sports and recreation
- Re-engaging disconnected youth
- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) activities
- Arts (visual and performing arts, music, dance, theater)
- Civic engagement and youth leadership
- College, career and workforce readiness
Interested organizations are invited to find the full Request for Proposals on our ESSER III contracting website. Proposals will be accepted through Feb. 28.
The MPS ESSER III plan was shaped by feedback from an advisory committee (including staff members, union representatives, students and families, and community partners), American Indian tribal consultation, an online submission form, and direct input from individuals and organizations.
More information on program and applicant requirements, upcoming information sessions and Phase 2 funding can be found on MPS’ ESSER III contracting opportunities website.
Opportunities for Phase 2 funding will be announced in April.
